The Fair Wear Campaign has many diverse areas of campaign activity ranging from global solidarity with garment workers overseas, to local action that members of the community can take in their school or local shopping centre.

Legislation
Fair Wear has been advocating regulation for the Australian clothing industry as a means of ensuring Award pay and conditions for outworkers. In May of 2002 the NSW Government created the 'Behind the Label' Strategy in order to address the exploitation of outworkers,and in 2003 the Victorian Government followed suit passing mirror legislation to match that of the NSW Government. Schools
The Fair School Wear Campaign has been running since 1999, encouraging school students, teachers and principals to look at the supply of school uniforms to their school. Global
Exploitation of workers in the garment industry is a systemic and global problem. Fair Wear works in conjunction with a number of international campaigns to combat the problem including the Clean Clothes Campaign, Nikewatch and others. FairWear aims to: Encourage companies to be accountable and responsible for the conditions of workers making their products. We aim to support workers in producer countries to secure their rights and hold companies accountable for poor labour conditions. Read more... |
